Hi all,
Sorry if I’m posting this in the wrong place.
I’ve just ordered these cheap 18w LED spot lights from Amazon to fit on the crash bars of my 2016 GS.

While I’m waiting for them to arrive I was hoping someone might know where I can pick up the 12v feed from?

I don’t wish to spend £200+ on a fancy Hex ezCan and I don’t really even want a handlebar switch.

I just want them to come on and go off with the ignition.

Your help would be greatly received.

Thanks, Dave

You will need a fused supply direct from the battery to a relay and the relay trigger taken from the bike fuse block under the seat if you don't want a switch on the bars.

Hope this helps Dave.

That’s a great help, thanks PhilBoy.
I’ll locate the fuse box and try to find a switched live today.

Just so you know, in my opinion, they will be too bright and will dazzle drivers if you just have them on all the time.

The Hex Ezcan controls brightness, so mine are set at 10% when on normally... only 100% when on main beam.

You will get people complaining...

Thanks Warlord, perhaps the hex ezcan is the way forward then. I’ll have a look on eBay.

What he said. The hex gives you so much more control of stuff. It is a worthwhile accessory IMHO and its not difficult to put in place.

Be careful if you wire into the bus might bring up a fault on the dash as he system is canbus. IMHO you would be better off going for the hex ezcan although expensive, far safer option and more functionality.

Just another small point. If your new lights are mounted anywhere near your front indicators, other drivers wont see them as they'll be washed out by the bright spot lights.

The Hex Ezcan will automatically turn off the single spotlight, next to your indicator while its on, then turn your spotlight back on when finished.

Like a modern LED lit car.

This is one of my video's (more in my listings)...

My two mates following are using your spotlights, and Hex Ezcan. Both bikes are on 10% brightness.

You'll also see the lights/ indicators work at 0.57 seconds

https://youtu.be/7nsw0Sl6JEk

(His lights flicking on and off is due to camera framerate conflict with his LED refresh rate, and in real life are always on)

Wow! They look nice and bright even at 10%
I like the way one turns off when indicating as you described.

Just need to source the hex ezcan now.

Thanks again

Saw that in the vid... someone was thinking outside the box when sorting that wiring out, very ingenious indeed

There is an alternate unit to the Hex ezcan with more outputs Im sure its mentioned in one of the threads.

I just wired mine using the aux socket as the power source and mounted an on/off switch on the bars. I've never had any complaints from other motorists and I've used a light bar to mount mine so there is some separation between them and the front indicators. I've now doubt the Hex Ezican is better but they're around £200 inc P&P on Ebay
