Hi there,
Does anybody know how to remove a wishbone on a 1100 GS ??
I have been trying today with very little luck. I was removing the bolt on the right hand side when it suddenly was a little to easy to tun but wont come out !!!
I dont have the right size for the Alan (hex) key on the left hand side either which probably wont help !!!
Does anybody have expearince of removal of one of these please ??

I've just found this thread as i'm trying to remove my wish bone to sort the paint work out on it.

For those in the know, the above diagram shows item 3, is this a big cap with a 10mm (IIRC) screw in cap?

is this cap left or right hand thread? i've just tried to remove mine and it seems stuck fast. Thought i'd better ask before i go and f*ck my bike up...

Standard thread. Be careful, it has a habit of snapping, it's very very brittle alloy.

If it does snap, pretty easy to chisell out what's left.

As I have mine out at the moment, I've just popped down into the garage and checked.

It is a standard thread.

Damn. Beaten by the Master.

BTW, mine came out very easily after scraping around the circumference to remove the accumulated crap, then I squirted it with de-icer a few times before undoing it.

Just finished drilling and chiselling:blast

New cap on order, think it must be the first time it has been removed, bearings nice and "notchy" too...

Thanks for the help.

I cleared the crap out from around the edge of the crap, gave it a liberal soaking in wd40, and it came out no problem.

Bike now in bits...:blast
