My mate just got a 2nd hand Quest off the Sale section on here and it's now got a wobbly USB and disconnects from the PC regularly. Couple of questions;
1) Anyone had this before?
2) Garmin said $150 to return and repair! Is this correct?
3) What's the number for the phone that never answers?
4) Any way of fixing it yourself or would you cough up?
5) Any other tips?

Many thanks.

I think the price quoted is just their maximum repair cost..they overestimate but if it exceeds that amount to them, they replace the unit with a new one.

If it's out of warrenty, it might be worth trying to araldite the usb cage back in securely........though you may find it'l end up costing a lot less than the quote..Garmin are pretty good at repairs for a good price.

Good luck :thumb

This seems to be a known fault

I had to return my 1st Quest for this fault, after only a couple of weeks. I have seen it mentioned elsewhere too, so I don't think it's uncommon.
Interestingly, the replacement, which I've had for a year, has a much 'looser' USB connection and that works perfectly with no signs of a problem.

My mate got through eventually to the UK people and well...a long story (like the phone calls)...but following a return number and a 2 week wait he ended up finding a parcel at home with what looks like a new unit with unlock codes all FOC and now all working.

Excellent service, you just need to know that you have to wait for the phone to be answered, this is not common knowledge unless you read this site.
