Over the last few years I have been slowly replacing a lot of my functional clothing with wool products, mainly base layers and jumpers/mid layers. I've found that quality wool products are just more comfortable and better at moisture and temperature regulation than synthetic stuff in all but the nastiest of environments (I still use synthetic stuff when getting realy wet or muddy, chance of submersion or in a dirty workshop envirnonment).
While in Keswick last week I discovered the Norwegian store, it's absolutely rammed with top quality scandi wool clothing, some of which is very reasonably priced. The couple that run it are really helpful and know their stuff so if you are in the market for some wool clobber, it's well worth a look / visit. The Devold clothing in particular seems really good.

Good shout. I went 'merino' for base layers some years ago and find it way better than my old synthetic stuff. (Tried 1 x long sleeved top and bottoms on a trip and wore them for 5 days straight...still not smelly.)

That’s shop has been there years, Mrs Berin has some top quality Scandi woolens from there.

Definitely right on merino, I’m into the 3rd day of wearing a merino top, still fresh, Mrs Berin’s Patagonia top smells like a goats armpit

That all looks very nice doesn't it ? I do love quality kit ... just popping back to the link ! :)

how do you know ??? :D
We got stranded once on Morocco and ended up being put up by Ahmed, up a mountain somewhere in the atlas. Ahmed chucked his wife and kids out of a room so we could sleep there but there were also goats in the house. I didn’t sniff a goat directly but got a good idea what its armpit would smell like

I always thought it was only the male goats that had a smell problem.

I have just had a look at their 'special offers' page - you lot live in a different world to us. I am currently sat in my new, all wool, jumper that Anna got me, it came with the original tags on it..... £3! The cheapest in the sale on that page is £80 :DD   The one on the topright is£400 IN THE SALE. I shall retrieve my jaw from the ground when I have finished typing. :D

I have an Icelandic jumper that I had made over 40yrs ago. At the time, it cost me over £60 just for the wool, which was quite a lot of money, then I commissioned someone to make it to a traditional Icelandic design.
I’ve just told my daughter that we’re going to Iceland in March as it’s her 30th birthday present, so I obviously have to take it with me… Wool is lovely but it’s cold and heavy when wet.

Maybe....

I lent my old, good, well fitting (under a leather jacket without bunching) Norwegian jumper to my youngest when he came round wet through. I've asked him to look what the maker is, so I can look for another, it appears he can't find it.
How do you lose a jumper?

If you like wool stuff have a look inside this place.

Proper wool where the lanolin hasn’t been washed out is brilliant, they say it’s waterproof & self cleaning (both to a point)

I’ve got one of these, in Black Welsh colour and love it, it’s probably 2 years old now and is my go to jumper, I wear it around the house, on the bike, Sking and at work if I’m not doing dirty work, I probably wear it more than all the rest combined.

If anyones interested sign up for their newsletter and wait for their offers, you’ll get 30 - 50% off.

It’s even got a name - Sheepy 🤣

Reason I found out why sheep do not shrink in the rain...........they stand still, then shake a few times after rain stops, unlike that Woolly Jersey you threw in the spin dryer...oh oh!

Sy (@boatman ) on here has a woollen jumper that was originally owned by Vikings and he never takes it off.
I’ll have you know ,,,,, that jumper is well known throughout the ADV bike world and has more miles under it than the Star Ship Enterprise ! and is a finely tuned technical motorcycle / travel garment ,,, which has been the envy of many due to its lineage and richly acquired patina !

That’s what I said!

If you that place is expensive, try Johnstons of Elgin, £600+ for a wooly jumper, wife looked at cardigan at £1350.
