Word of warning for twin cam owners

Oh, and mines a 2006 single cam, so may not just be the twin cam 2010 onwards bikes,

Maybe that's why the superior 1100 Boxer had a side stand cut off switch (regardless of whether in gear or not)

Side stand down, bike cut immediately.............so punters couldn't ever run it on the sidestand - even in neutral

Makes you wonder:nenau

Always good to be for warned Mikey cheers for posting. At least now we are aware and can only blame ourselves if this happens to us :thumb

Glad I got rid of my twin-cam and bought the superior LC :)
Yeah, superior in what way ? the amount of times they have to have clutches and gearboxes replaced or even the amount of times the whole bike is replaced because its a pile of crap ? Keep on thinking what you like but given the amount of complaints about the "unstoppable" shite houses on here it would seems you live in some sort of cloud cuckoo land. I feel sorry for you that you dont have the best bike, a 2013 TC with all the bugs ironed out and that you are an unpaid Beta tester for BMW. Dream on lol

Jeeeeez, we're all used to Engineer talking delusional bollox on here but now you are too, it must be catching :blast

Anyway, I've corrected your post above. No need to thank me, all done FOC :D

Andres

If any part of the 1190 engine is based on the 950 they had better use a laundry to do that amount of ironing , the engine was the biggest pile of shite I have ever had the displeasure to own

I'm grateful for the 'Heads Up', thanx Mike. :thumb2

I've always done this thinking I was being sympathetic to the engine. :comfort

Does that mean my 2012 TC is rubbish? :( :tears

Mike thanks for info, thinking about it , I only ever have it on its side stand in gear engine off. Rarely start it on side as the beggar is prone to fall off its stand. On the couple of occasions I have started it on side it can make a clatter for definite so I always avoid it. Call it mechanical sympathy:thumby:

i bow to your superior knowledge:D

Not (necessarily) superior, but how could you possibly determine that running at a 4° tilt on the sidestand would cause oil starvation of the main bearing. Makes no sense at all. Low oil, overheated, sure, but a small tilt kills a motor? If that were true we would see hundreds, or thousands, of cases of this. The very small sample is statistically insignificant! Believe whatever you like, but try to make the story believable.

Jim
