Its arrived (2 days from order) and works OK. Like all new BMW products though it is very complicated to use. The one thing I was hoping to see was a full service interval chart with a tick box and work description.
There is a short section on servicing and from what I can see the following is the only work carried out.
10,000k (6000m) Change oil and filter.
Plug in diagnostic computer.
Visually check over the bike (Im sure they do, arn't you)
Reset service warning sign in trip computer
Stamp book.
Say thanks for your £125.00
20,000 (12000m) Change oil and filter.
Check valves.
Change air filter.
Plug in diagnostic computer.
Visually check over the bike
Also after 1 year change all brake fluids. Then every 2 years.
30,000 (18000m) Change oil and filter.
Change fork oil.
Plug in diagnostic computer.
Visually check over the bike
40,000 (12000m) Change oil and filter.
Check valves.
Change air filter.
Change spark plugs.
Plug in diagnostic computer.
Visually check over the bike.
There is no mention of balancing throttle bodies etc or changing a fuel filter?
I was suprised to see the valves checked at 12000m, especially as the launch notes mentioned a new valve actuation designed to reduce wear and maintenance. Kawasaki and Yamaha twins with their older design are not checked until 24000m.
I was also suprised to see BMW recomend charging the customer extra each service for fitting a temp stand if no centre stand is fitted, and for re setting the service count down indicator in the computer.
