As it says, finally decided to have a go at a 36k service myself, ordered all the necessary bits from Motorworks so I'm confident that they're all the right parts.
What have I done???
Spark plugs out / Rocker covers off / checked the valve clearances / new plugs / rocker covers back on with new gaskets / new air filter / new alternator belt / new oil and filter.
Put it all back together and started it up and it runs like a pig, popping , wont rev clean / bloody awful.
ONly major thing I've done is the valve clearances.
Followed the Haynes manual got "OT" TDC marking in inspection window, and when it didn't seem to tell me which side to start with, I phoned and asked......
Was told to rock the back wheel in gear and see which valves were moving. Then, adjust the ones that WERENT moving first. I therefore started with the left cylinder first. ( as if I was sitting on it).
Followed the Haynes and then did the other side, having rotated around to TDC again.
I've revisited it again, re done the clearances again, even swopped the old plugs back in, in case I had a duff one but all to no avail.
However, when I did take the new plugs out, they were all blacked / sooted up, just from starting and running it for about a minute.
When the originals came out initially, they were fine colour wise.
Any pointers please??? Havent got a clue what I've done. Havent messed with anything else?????????????
