Working mens club

poor lass, she did n't deserve to be verbally abused when they found out she was n't the stripper ....

... she only went in there to do the washing up

In a working mens club in West Yorkshire in the '70s.

Female singer came on and her first number "died" - hardly any applause.

Concert secretary stood up and said (and I can hear his words in my mind today) -
"C'mon lads, give poor cow a chance or I'll send the comic back on"

Hard days :(

WTF did she think would happen.
Working mens clubs (as much an oxymoron as that is these days) should be the domain of men only (including all staff).
They have been a refuge for men to have a drink and socialise without the pressure or distraction of women for years and it will be sad to see them go for the sake of some tarts bruised ego and political correctness.
It's not as if women are fully barred at the Mill View Social Club, there is a part of the bar they let women use so she must have known she was transgressing the rules of affiliated members.
When will somebody say enough is enough, be it women in working mens clubs, vegetarians in MacDonalds or gays in Christian Guest Houses. All complaining their diversity has not been catered for.
The beauty of diversity in society is that it doesn't matter what your taste or penchant may be you can find somewhere that caters for it.
It's wrong that people expect their needs to be met wherever they decide they want to be.
So leave your attention seeking behaviour at home and leave the places and institutions that are not to your tastes for those people who enjoy them just the way they are.
