Hello I have an 02 1150 GS which I love its the best bike I have ever owned I bought it 2 years ago with 19k on the clock, its now done nearly 28k, recently when it get very hot say in traffic for a long time with 7 bars on the oil temp there is a definite rattle/knock from the engine when I pull in the clutch, this cannot be normal can it? the rest of the time its fine and at the weekend I was on the motor way at fairly high speed around 70 officer for about 45 mins and nothing went bang, the oil light goes out immediately even when hot it doesn't smoke or use any more oil than before, I should not say this but it seems to be running quite nicely, am I worrying unnecessarily or am I looking at an engine re build?
Thank you
Andre

Worry not. Send a PM to Mikeyboy on this forum (Overland & Classic). Mikey sorted this for another member here quite recently. I think he sorted it with a clutch change or something. Nothing terminal with the motor.

Hello and Thanks Mad Hatter Bizarrely going through the paperwork I got with the bike, there was a lot of documented history it had a new clutch in 2016 at 14600 miles complete with a new slave cylinder

the bike has a dry clutch so when the plates are not under load they rattle - put the bike in neutral and let the clutch out!
