Are the Puig far to expensive (had one previously excellent quality) or does quality justify price
Or cheaper option , are they correct price or is the quality crap that's why there cheap. Anybody had both to compare quality or was it penny wise pound foolish

I have a Puig one but bought a knock off one to use the actual plastic hugger part as I wanted to trim it down so it didn't catch on the genuine MachineArt mudsling. The quality of the bolts supplied with my knock off one were shoite though so I got some decent stainless steels ones off ebay from a uk suppliers (Kays IIRC) I also used blue locktite on both the 3 bolts that hold the hugger tonthe frame and the 2 that attach the frame to the bike

I would not buy the Chinese copy just because it's wrong to support thieves in my mind

A point I keep on about on here.

Puig and Machine Art Moto etc. spend money on developers/designers to safely bring a product to market - if these people do not get a return they can't invest in new ideas.

I wouldn't bother with one at all.
Mudsling and infill panels are what you need.
I fitted the genuine puig hugger to my bike, nothing wrong with the quality, it's just doesn't do anything of benefit at all.

Have had a hugger on for 6K miles now and found that it keeps most parts clean but it is causing damage to the paint where the shock is attached at the bottom to the swingarm. Think it is throwing rubbish in a more consentraded line way. Hope I explain it properly. Will maybe try mudsling for the next next year.

Mine had the bracket sheared and if I didn't catch it at time, it could get loose and cought by rear wheel. Don't even want to think what could it have caused. Removed it and mounted mudsling.

Or are the thieves the ones that are buying these in made in China and asking huge prices?

Mine cost me around £20 from China, has been fitted for 16 months (10,000 miles) and never had a problem at all.

No, they are the ones who spend the time to develop the product and bring it to market. These copy artists just steal designs and replicate them with inferior materials

Same here too. I bought the Wunderlich hugger same shit as the Chinese Ali express ones.

I would buy the Ilmberger hugger...Top quality and looks ! No chinese crap on my bike therefore I would never buy any F model even if it says BMW on the tank...

I love the look of rear hugger but had very bad experience with Puig one. I wouldn't mind purchasing Ilmberg hugger as it looks like it wouldn't be dangerous with broken bracket (as it happened to me). The only problem is its carbon look. It would look completely different from anything else on my bike. If they had "plastic" look, I'd immediately buy one.

Don’t wish to steal the jam from your doughnut (or jelly as you’re a merkin) but you should probably be aware that not every nut, bolt and component on your boxer GS is “Hergestellt in Deutschland”

You are right Deutsche Wertarbeit is replaced with cheap crap globally sourced so the shareholders can get even fatter...But these days are coming to an end thanks to the supply chain shortages :thumb2
Look what they have done to the workers in Britain where even Triumph is 100% Made in Thailand...The "quality" and unemployment numbers might reflect that fact but for sure not the prices they charge for all these shiney new Thaiumphs...

Had a Puig rear hugger on my 2018 Tiger 1200, lasted about 18 months and then broke at the mounting point on the swing arm, did some damage to the paint work and could have been very unpleasant if it had wrapped around the wheel. Generally I've had good luck with Puig stuff but would not recommend their hugger.

That is why I said buy the Ilmberger...They look great and work...Top quality worth the price like all the C-F stuff they make...Unit Garage would be my next choice if they made huggers ! Daytona boots,Akrapovic pipes...There is still some high quality stuff out there worth the price of admission.Held gloves were good once too as they were still made in the fatherland.Today junk like the rest except for their higher pricing...ERBO made very good leathers same as Schwabenleder but today I don't even know if they are still in business after their founders died ?
