So we all read and comment on the problems many have had on the 1200GS. People having noisy brakes, oil leaks, new rear diffs, electrical probs. and try and help out others with advice and share experiences.

We have all spent (or asked our banks to cough up) near on £10000. But the burning question is (certainly with the arrival of the 1200 GS Adventure), would you buy another one ??? Simple answer Yes or No ?

Yes

No question. I prefer it to the 1150GS I had before, and despite the negative posts on here, I've had only one small problem with either of them (knackered final drive bearing on the 1150, sorted painlessly under warranty).

I don't think I'm a soft or particularly easily satisfied customer, I just really love my bike. Comparisons with friends' bikes just makes me even more sure. Yes, they're expensive, but having taken the hit once, price to upgrade to a new one was no different to any Jap bike (in fact, better than most).

The only downside is that I can't think of a different bike I'd rather have, which is a bit disappointing - it would be nice to have something to lust after.

Robin.

If mine were stolen or written off I'd buy another one asap.

1 year and 9,500 miles later no problems.

The 1200Adv? A good bike made worse IMHO, too high, too heavy, (too expensive?).

A salutary lesson in madness:

1. Take a bike that gets slagged off

2. Make it too high for most riders

3. Make it heavier

4. Make it more butch

5. Tell customers it's an 'Adventure' model

6. Watch those who slag off the basic model celebrate it for the aformentioned changes

Makes no sense at all :D :D :D

I don't really get the relevance of the bit in brackets. The Adventure is simply irrelevant as far as I am concerned. It is not a bike that I either want or need. Plus its a darned sight more expensive.

So, yes I'd buy another 12 if anything happened to mine. It's a cracking bike. :thumb

yes i would

I have had no problems with my 1200 to date.
I would buy another.
I still think that the 1150 GSA is a better looking bike, but I know which I would rather be riding :thumb

I tend to agree with spheniscidine on the downside issue - spent yesterday at teh NEC and simply could not find another bike that I liked the same as, or more than, my GS.

In my current situation I don't think any bike is as good as the R1200GS... should my situation change, then there's a greater chance that I'd buy a different bike - but if I were to buy a bike today, then it'd be the GS... :)

I voted "no" but not because there is anything wrong with my current 1200GS. To the contrary, its a really good bike and I dont yet want to change it. Might never want to change it. But if I eventually do, it will be because I want a change - not just a repeat of the same thing.

After all, I'm unlikely to wear it out.

more than happy to keep the GS and when its been round the clock then i may buy another one :thumb

Yes - I would buy another - it's the best all rounder on the road - I've said it before but her goes again:

takes me 100 miles a day to work comfortably with various bits of luggage

is cool enough to pick up kids from school

can swallow a trip to Waitrose

sets my heart racing along the Ridgeway

gives rice racers a run for their money

does all this in standard form

and makes me feel a bit special just to own and be seen on it.

And it's red.

A yes from me. Not quite sure what "certainly with the arrival of the 1200 GS Adventure" means......its just a blinged up 12GS, same oily bits - same problems, allbeit with the "fixes" most of us have had during servicing.

BIG YES

A definate YES from me, i'm with a lot of you guys, the new GSA to me is a cosmetic change designed to attract the wannabe's.

Ok, so before you all start shouting, yes i accept that it's probably gonna be great for the Round the Worlders, but lets face it, how many "REAL" RTW riders are there, and how many will be those wannabe's i referred to earlier!!

The stock GS12 is a great bike, will do far more than most of it's owners and if mine died, i'd definately replace it tout suite.

and for the record... owned for 6 months, a measly 4,500 miles but "touch wood" no faults yet!!

:thumb :clap

yes I would buy another one the only thing I would change would be the petrol tank, I prefer the tank on the 1150gs as opposed to the 1200gs

Without doubt. Hopefully not for a few years as I hope to have many happy years on my current bike. I don't believe that there is another bike out there that ticks as many boxes for me.
