I would only change to another GS12 + no point in going backwards. That is unless the new 800 is going to be amazing but probably be amazingly tall too  , so I'll stick to 12's too......... :D

Damn right!

I waited over a year to give BMW a chance to sort the "features". Now, to paraphase Mr Heston, you'll have to pry it from between my cold, dead legs.

So we all read and comment on the problems many have had on the 1200GS. People having noisy brakes, oil leaks, new rear diffs, electrical probs. and try and help out others with advice and share experiences.

We have all spent (or asked our banks to cough up) near on £10000. But the burning question is (certainly with the arrival of the 1200 GS Adventure), would you buy another one ??? Simple answer Yes or No ?

Definately, despite the (ongoing ) problem with my bike it is the best all rounder out there - bar none.

Yes - because there isn't a better bike

Despite 6 warranty claims so far.....I'd still have another one because my bikes are very important to me (12k miles a year) and there isn't a better bike out there at the moment. The KTM 950 Adv is interesting but not good enough I dont think.

If Honda created a GS clone but better (think "Fireblading" the GS) then I'd probably go with that instead. It's only a matter of time before they do in my view. They cant just sit there with the fatty Varadero watching BMW creating and exploiting a massive "adventure sports" market.

Some vote rigging going on? One person (birdseye) said no, yet there's currently 11 'no' votes.

There's always some tosser who doesn't own one, doesn't like em and will throw in a no vote just cause he's a tosser :thumb

Yes

I voted YES even thou i have just ( last Saturday ) had a new FD fitted @
5300 miles, fitted a few bits ( as ye do ) but it is the best bike i have owned,
and i'm an old duffer with 39 years riding under my belt. I love the thing.

Yes

The bike is fantastic, no REAL problems to date. I emphasise real as this fantastic medium for communication (the internerd) does tend to see us post "problems" from blown bulbs right down to abuse due to ignorance.

The adv looks like a great machine but for me it has no relavnce what so ever, the most off road my gs will get is tescos car park. Good luck and respect to thoose with the skill or the balls to take this monster to the dirt.

Got the seal of approval from the missus for the new silver gs as seen at NEC, that is likely to be my next bike.

Yes. It's been 2 seasons of ownership and despite my best efforts I've yet to find a bike that covers all the bases, for me. I've currently saved up enough for a more focused bike for those moments when I want a hardcore sportbike, more than likely a Husaberg 650e SM or KTM 950 SM, but the 12GS stays. But I actually have a hard time justifying the purchase of another bike and I definitely can't justify a replacement.

Regarding the 12GSA. If I was buying now I'd buy the 12GSA over the 12GS because it has the bigger tank that I plan on adding to the 12GS.

Mine will hopefully be around until it's three years old at least. Then I'll look around, we don't know what's going to be on the market then. If it died now, however, it would be another 1200, oh yes sir.
Adventure? although I like the look of it my needs are for a round-europe tourer with no road of bones ambitions, so what's the point?
:)

I would have ride one to know for sure.

I do like the looks of the 1200 ADV and the larger tank. I just don't know if it would be as fun to ride on the road where I do most of my riding.

I do ride on dirt roads, but I am not doing any serious off-roading with a 25,000 dollar bike. How serious can you be with a 500 lb bike anyway. I know that some guys can them anywhere, but I'm not one. :)

YES.......Best bike I have owned & ridden in 40 years of riding. From a Vincent Rapide to a Yammy R1 (with many "less notables" sprinkled around). Not perfect but damn good.

if my 12GS were to be stolen or written off today, then I've got to be honest... I would not go with the same thing again... I'd get an '06 grey one for sure... :D

being a lanky bastard the 12GS is the first bike I've ever owned that fits me absolutely spot on, even if I'd sent my measurements to BMW during R&D they couldn't have done a better job... plus it decimates the poorly surfaced twisties that make up 75% of the riding here at speeds and comfort levels the japanese race rep crowd can only dream of... and then happily bounds over rutted, rocky, erroded offroad "tracks" through mud and rivers before calmly rejoining the motorway for a composed and effortless blast home...

From any other factory I'd need 3 bikes to get the same enjoyment from my weekend day trip... perfect? perhaps not, but for my needs not far from it... :thumb

Collected my new '06 grey 12gs monday evening. 32k flawless miles on the first one and sold it to a good friend. :D

I voted no because, even though I love the bike, I still remain unimpressed with BMW themselves.

Having said that, like many others here, I really can't think of another bike which I'd rather have.

Bugger!

Yes

Don't think I'll be buying a new one for while yet though. I hope/expect to be riding my current 1200 for at least the next ten years...

And it'll take me that long to buy all the extras I want for it. :D

OH YES! First BM I have owned and would go the 1200gs route again. But as of now no need to as the one I've got does it all.
