Would you leave a GS parked outside...

I know it has a bearing on insurance, but one of the reasons I'm interested in a BMW is that I'm under the impression they'll sit outside in all weathers, like a car.

Or am I nuts?

I've got no garage or shed, so my two bikes (R100GS and R100RT) both live outside, almost always with a cover on.

The '79 RT is noticeably better built than the '89 GS, but, being Airheads, they're durable enough to withstand it

I've tried parking mine inside Waitrose whilst doing the shopping, but it's frowned upon, so yes, occasionally I'll park it outside.

Yep, just say "STAY" in a firm manner and it'll sit there all day and night

But if your concerned, there's help out there

I keep mine outside under a quality cover.

As long as I can ride it at least weekly and wash it using a Triple Wax type of shampoo/polish (probably weekly too) - that's the best I can do for it.

If it's going to be sat in the rain for weeks on end (covered), only then do I bring it into my inaccessible unheated garage.

I'm no fan of ACF50 - it did very little to protect my r100r unless I repeated the application regularly (and I mean fortnightly!)

Beemers do a lot better than most of the competition but they will still corrode and when that happens under paint or powder coating it is somewhat disheartening
