Wrong software on 1200gs!

I had a software update done on my 1200gs just before SPC shut down, 6 weeks or so ago, the update was done so my power socket didn't shut down, very annoying trying to follow GPS. It worked, but I developed an intermittent ABS fault, so I booked my bike into Vines Guildford, when they put my bike on dianostic machine, it didn't recognise my software, apparently my bike didn't even know it was a 1200GS!! Anyone else ever had this? I do wonder sometimes.

What did it think it was, then? Rumour has it the 1200GS hopes to be a KTM...

I don't know if this will help any but about 8 weeks ago my 05 GS12 developed a similar intermittent ABS problem, I took it into my local dealer and they set about diagnosing the issue. On my return, they said they had carried out an recall mod and that the issue should now sorted, that was 1400km ago and there's been no repetition of the problem.
When asked to show what they had actually done, they showed me an electrical connection on the back (front physically) of the clocks and the mod they had made (disconnected one cable from thje plug and sealed it within a little isolating jobbie).
ABS functions as it should (Phew - a hairy moment on a slippy Eifel mountain SHARP bend) and as usual I am pretty happy with my local dealer.
Might help, if not never mind.

Thanks for advise, my update was done on Thursday by Vines, today I went out but the fault re-appeared, the red triangle stays lit and the ABS continues to flash, I turn the bike off and back on again and the bike is usually ok, might take 2 goes, annoying more than anything, next GS will have no ABS and no servo!

Whilst its tempting just to reset then use the bike DON'T, give the bike back to them for repair or get it recovered by BMW

And check that your hand guard is not touching the brake lever

not without a radical rethink the air intake and what a snorkel is used for and where to position it

I think he means check to see if the handguards are not touching the brake or clutch levers (easy to knock them down or up) just get in the habit of giving the levers a flick forward to, check free play, every so often (every trip for me )

Same goes for the rear brake switch some are prone to collecting rubbish or comming loose preventing correct operation Worth checking as well!
