My Lad has just started riding and as i sold the GS to get a Campervan i am Bikeless ATM. He keeps asking if i can get a bike to go on a few rides with him. Not looking for anything flash or new Just something that is mechanically sound that i can go out with him a few times this year. Ideally sub 1k

Has anyone got anything or any suggestions?

Amazing engine to go over 1/4 million miles .

I bought this a a ‘Spares’ bike but in truth it’s far too good for that, MOT UNTIL 2027 had advisory : Rear tyre close to legal limit if you check, so now replaced..I’ve a pair of panniers in stock good to go anywhere today..

£1,400 ono…🏍️

It’s the one on the left, and rides as good my bestie on the right..👍

OK folks, thanks for the offers but, having thought a bit about it I'm looking for something small ish as space to keep it was why i had to get rid of the GS in the first place so it will have to live in the corner of my unit which is already tight.

So something naked or small preferred. Probably 800cc ish size. Obviously I'm not expecting any of these but to give some sort of idea on size etc
F800gs
Tiger 800
tiger 1050 (Might be to big)
VFR750
MT07
Old transalp
Bandit
Street triple
NC750
etc.

Out of you list I'd go £1500 to 2k as the bikes in that range are much better than the bottom of the market... There are many good bikes out there but it will be what you see you get on older stuff... The 1150RS would feel smaller than your GS and the Pan won't but is a steal at that price... I have a £1k Pan and it's a great old bike...

I also have a 2013 Honda CB500X, 17k
Used by my son to tour france with me last year, been in garage since, £2400ono including top box panniers and tank bag

A very tidy R850R with Ohlins front and back. Handles really well, very smooth and good fun. £1750 .
You'll have to wait a couple of weeks though as I'm riding it around France and Spain with the Mrs. It's a bit cramped for this so I fancy a GS

My son has a vfr800 sat in his garage. No mot or tax and it hasn’t been on the road for at least two years. It needs a bit - tyres, & brakes as a minimum but it starts & runs and sounds great like these V4s do. . He bought it to commute on instead of his too nice to spoil triumph Daytona but never used it. Not sure of age or mileage but iirc iits early 2000s and not starship mileage. He paid under a £1,000 he will let it go for less than that. His garage is huge and he’s happy to keep it in a corner but I know he’d sell it too. He has lost interest in motorbikes, prefers mountain bikes, so he won’t be sorting it in advance for you. I can get more info and photos if you are interested.

Nitram's V-strom my fave so far. Or the R850R above.

I love spending others money vicariously.
