Has anyone any experience of this unit?
Is it a worthwhile investment for an 06 1200 GS

IIRC it's just a rebranded techlusion TFI unit - had one fitted to my last 1150GS. Good bit of kit but it needs setting up properly. The other option is a chip which is more plug and play.

There are a couple of threads on this - I've just fitted one, and am impressed so far - though it does need some fine tuning still.

People seem to have found them very good (some would say essential) if you add aftermarket headers, a more open can and a K&N filter to 'richen up' the mixture.

I had the ECU remapped on my 01 1150 GS. Made a huge difference, similar to the freedom of removing the cat. Smoother, cleaner revving, better economy (if i did not thrash it that is). All in all a better bike. Let another GSER have a go the other day and he was shocked in the difference to his own cat free bike and mine. He is now saving his pennies to have his ECU remapped

I'm obviously not up on these terms, could you please explain remapping etc?

basic terms the chip which makes it all work is set to middle of the road, by remapping changing a few setting at chip level you can get the bike to deliver more grunt or rev higher before the engine managment says "excuse me!" an takes over

The higher the remapping (reprogramming / tuning) the more power you can get however the chances are the overall engine life is reduced by a percentage, not sure how much but a percentage sure enough.

the mysteries of remapping I have no idea about but one of the guys I work with had his audi done and it added about 90 bph according to him to an already very fast car!

I have not gone mad on the remap (no ideal on the bhp increase), i asked for more torque and a smoother power curve the bike had 50k on the clock when done and how has 65k and is running excellently. It allows for a Jackel and Hyde bike; i can toddle along at 1400 rpm if required with no problem. Nice when i spend up to 8 hours a day teaching learners. Then when on the open road the power is delivered without hesitation. There is a noticable increase in power at 5k on heavy throttle through to the rev limiter (which is kept at 8100 rpm).
