I picked up my '06 GS two weeks ago and got hold of a used wunderlich tank bag to go on the bike. I have worked out how the base plate fits at the rear using the Velcro straps round the bar under the seat but can't work out where the straps at the front are supposed to go. If anyone could post a pic of how theirs is attached it would be appreciated.
All help and advice appreciated as usual.

my 2006 GS came with the small 'day' version, at the front there were two v shaped metal pieces at the end of straps which hooked under a small metal strip just below the headstock bearing (might have been the bit that carries the bike serial number - cannot check as just sold it!), hope this helps, you may also find some fitting clips on you tube, I seem to recall a few

Think those bits may be missing will have to see what I can rig up with some of the bits I've got in the garage.

the straps at the front are threaded under the vin plate then back through the buckle. to stop the front pannel flapping about its velcroed down on the tank.

Is this the Wunderlich Elephant bag?. If so, the front strap goes round the headstock under the VIN plate. It's not Wunderlich's best, with the front strap being very untidy even when fitted correctly. Look on YouTube for a video from Wunderlich USA about fitting it.
