I used to have one on my previous GS. Blingtastic. But it just carries more gunk and roadcrap, then keeps it inside. I ended up spraying ACF50 inside to keep things from corroding. I wouldn't bother imho.

My thoughts,
The inside of the “big hole” as you put it is all shiny when new but seems to be a thin coating of a surface finish metal like anodised or zinc plated parts. It gets warm when the bike is ridden and gets liberally coated with road crap. That tornado hub will not keep out the crap but will make it difficult to clean the inside of the big hole resulting in corrosion of the shiny surface finish. Also, the big hole is an ideal place through which to thread a security cable or chain ( obviously no use to you if you park in that London, but it seems to me that the only way to stop a bike being nicked there is to set fire to it yourself as you walk away from it). As said above, don’t bother with the tornado hub, instead, spend the money on acf50 to coat the inside to protect the metal finish.

Ok thanks,I will save my money

Yes I have, I'm the kind of person that wastes money on unnecessary bling/ farkles, my wife says it's a kind of illness.
Still it keeps me amused while the lock down is in place. I don't know how the Covid-19 can control the weather but any other year it would have been pissing down but this year it's been glorious. Never mind, when the lock down is finally finished no doubt things will return to normal, pissing down, especially at weekends .

Of course u could spray liberal coating off acf50 and fit the farkle.

Given that most people change tyres every 18 to 24 months or less then u can clean and re apply

It only takes 10 seconds to remove it with the tool provided. Clean up the hole, reapply ACF 50, and wait for the road dust to stick to it again, about 4 miles. .

DO you know if the front fork sliders will fit my 1250 adventure as i cant find them listed for mine .
cheers

I take mine out every time I clean it, spray some surface protector in and refit. Easy.

Al.

I 'over applied' ACF 50 to the inside of the 'big hole' on the back wheel once and after a long ride at motorway speeds noticed centrifugal force had flung some ACF 50 radially out from the hub and onto the rear disc. This was before the Tornado farkle was fitted I might add. It was a hot day and with the additional heat from the final drive hub may have made it very runny. Anyway I don't put as much on now after learning my lesson and having to clean the disc and pads with brake cleaner.

I've just checked on Nippy Normans and you are correct it doesn't mention the 1250 Adventure ! every other variant though, I don't think the 1250 Adventure front wheel assy is any different from all the rest, unless the kind peeps on here know different ? Maybe E-mail them and ask, could be they haven't updated the fittings list.

Emailed them and awaiting a reply

I had one of those sat in the garage for months and just fitted it ( Bored ) it looks ok and I only paid £5 for it . I did think about fitting a thin aluminium disc behind each side to stop the ingress of crap . Having said all that it’s a 2min job to remove and clean as mentioned by others .

+1 it’s hard enough keeping the hole corrosion free even with a liberal coating of ACF50 and constant polishing.

I couldn't help myself ;)

Don't drop it on the left hand side, you haven't fitted a Wunderlich Paralever Slider or alternatively a Wunderlich Lever Guard protector bar to protect your Wunderlich Tornado hub ! .
