I saw this comment this morning, on the FB thread 'Honda ADV350 Owner's Club', and it might spark some interest:

".. Sorry, but that’s a big mistake. The X is underpowered (for a 750), really heavy (236kg), has a chain (more maintenance) and half the storage of the 350… all for twice the cost🤷‍♂️ And they’re putting the Hornet/Transalp engine in it next year."

Apparently, the Op was given that info by his dealer.

Would be good, apparently it’s a great engine, but I’m not sure how they’d get a traditional parallel twin into a scooter bodywork, the X ADV motor has the cylinders leant over at a very shallow angle

I can guarantee the op posting this hasn't ridden the 750 XAdv.
Agreed, the bhp/weight and engine capacity figures make it look like an overpriced boring bike which it's anything but.

As for the rumour of using the Hornet/Transalp engine in the '25 model.....very unlikely. I can't see Honda adapting it for DCT.

I sense confusion too. Unfortunately there is so much AI generated bollox around, it's difficult to get to the facts.

When it comes to the X-Adv big scoot, it seems Honda have decided on a fairly modest make-over, but the price point still seems a tad high to me.

There has been plenty of chatter about taking the popular NC750X up to 850 for several years, retaining the concept of using half a Jazz car engine for efficiency,, maybe canted lower still, with DCT rather than E-Clutch. However, until we know which way legislation is going, I can't see the point of changing a successful product significantly.

Thanks for sharing. Interesting.

There's a lot of commentary about the perceived/actual gaps between this and the ADV350 - not least, from a 'value for money' perspective.
I've not ridden the ADV 350 and I'm sure it's a very capable machine. However, the 750 is in a different league when it comes to quality components and more importantly, the fun factor.

The 750 probably makes sense if it’s your main/only bike, it’s obviously got more power and comfort

But if you want the simplicity of use and the practicality of a twist and go scooter then I think the 350 is better in several ways

The storage on the 350 is much better, especially with a top box fitted, the keyless one is brilliant
The CVT transmission is perfect for a scooter, even if I’m a DCT fan it’s still not as smooth and easy as a twist and go
The size and weight give a distinct advantage in town and in traffic for filtering, riding like a pizza delivery boy, parking etc.
It’s half the price to buy and cheaper to insure, run, service

The Forza has better weather protection than the ADV and the 350 has an electric screen which is great

Leadfarmer your synopses is spot on Ive owned 3Xadv's and 2 ADV350s the Xadvs were 2 gen 1s 1 gen 2 if the Xadv had a cvt gearbox id have one now I truly hate the DCT
although saying that I am looking at the new version hoping the tweaks will make it better, if it does I will buy one just for the shits and giggles of owning one again !!

It's a pity that colour is only for Europe. UK gets black, white or grey. A bike that looks like that needs a look-at-me colour imo.
Yes, not just on this bike either, it would seem manufacturers have little or no imagination for attractive paint schemes on motorcycles, having said that, Royal Enfield had quite a good selection on their 650cc twin.

Yamaha on there XSR range seem to be doing some nice paint schemes ive seen a few that look like the old RD250/400 and 250/350LC was tempted by the white/blue one as my go to work bike

Ordered the new X-adv in white a few weeks ago, with knuckle guards, heated grips, wind deflectors, and rear top box rack, delivery date 12th December, once again got a great cash deal from Doble's
Looking forward to getting it, just hope this time I can handle the tweaked DCT gearbox, been buying bits for it since LOL
Side protection bars
Yoshimura Slip on Exhaust
Riders off road foot rests,
Front Fog lights
Alarm
Bracket for the XT
Side Stand fat foot
45 Ltr Metal top box
Boot Liner

Garage should be rebuilt for its arrival so it can stay at home next to the Transalp, whist the other bikes have a new home at work in a lovely heated and Air conditioned Boiler house,
roll on the 12th

What didn't you like about the DCT gearbox? I assume you had an earlier model XAdv?

Ive had all gen's of them now the first one was really bad changing gear half way around roundabouts in corners and whenever it liked really, that was a 2018 I beleive, next one was 2020 was slightly better, next one was a 2022 and that was better still but still not perfect albeit you could adjust shift points to suit which was even better but the low speed and take off still was not great, the new bike has had that sorted so they say, so im hoping the DCT is now better, if not it will be up for sale and ill but a ADV350 again I so prefer the CVT over the DCT on a scooter the 560Xmax tech max was great for the gearbox but I just didnt like the riding position on that !!

I had a 2020 model and thought the DCT to be great, one of the best features on the bike.
I was struggling with work and the lockdowns, it wasn't getting used so I regrettably sold it.

As with anything new and different, as the XAdv is, it takes time to adjust. I never had any issues with the DCT and gearchanges, once I had a few rides under my belt I could predict when it would change gear. I have an NC750 now, DCT of course.
Please post on here your thoughts on the new one when it arrives.

Will do
Its supposed to be smoother on the uptake, funnily not one of the points I had a problem with, the 2022 bike was better as you could adjust all the everything once it was adjusted to the way I was semi happy with it, it was bearable not fantastic but I could have lived with it,
