It's looking more and more like I will be selling the Xchallenge on my return from the Pyrenees.

My dilemma now is do I strip it back to standard and sell off all the goodies separately or try and get a reasonable price for the bike with all the mods?

The list of extras is,

Foam air filter and pre-filter
Remus front pipe
LeoVince tailpipe
Hepco and Becker racks
Centre stand
WP front forks, serviced and re-sprung
Hyperpro rear shock with hydraulic preload (Just serviced)
Hot Rod Welding rear tank
Hot Rod Welding fairing kit
Twin HID headlamps
BMW Alloy radiator guard
BMW alloy frame protectors
Rekluse Clutch
KTM chain guide
Scottoiler
ASV clutch lever
Yamaha gear lever
Modified clutch cover
Scheffelmeier bash plate
Alloy rear rack
Xmoto grey seat (new)
Tony Archer low seat/seat concepts comfort seat
Front and rear wheels with discs and sprocket carrier
Remus silencer
Seat concepts comfort seat and 2 spare covers in different colours.

Also I have just had it re-mapped so more fuel efficient and better performance.

What would you do?

Just had the same dilemma, many people say strip it back to standard and sell the parts separately but you've got a well put together bike which is what everyone wants.

I suggest try selling complete for the price you want, if it doesn't sell then think about dismantling it:beerjug:

I'd be interested in the forks and shock above, if you do strip

Just getting in early, as you do:D

;)

What would you expect to get for it as is?

Thats the problem i don't know.
A standard bike would fetch around £3000
Mine has £900 of rear suspension and probably another £300 of front forks.
Remus front pipe and Leovince tailpipe at £450
Rekluse clutch £700
Rear tank £400
Fairing kit £900

Thats well over £3500 with just those bits!
What are a spare set of wheels, tyres, tubes with discs worth?

It is ready to go and will probably only have 15,500 miles when I return from the Pyrenees next week.

Just keep it then, the KTM is no better and needs a heap of work to make it similar too:P

I don't like to think how much money and time has gone into my Xch  I have kept everything and in theory i could return it to standard, problem is i don't think people want to buy such heavily modified bikes and the few that will don't want to pay much above the standard price.

If you are going to get rid i would remove the stuff thats easy and high value like thaw X tank and rear shock.

Maybe after your trip you won't want to sell it ;)

P.S I'm of to Holland for a full shock service and preload ajuster next week and in 14 days I'm in Spain :bounce1

I stripped my 690 when I sold it, made a couple of hundred pounds on what I paid and had a free trip on the tat, no brainier really if you have the time and inclination. I'll have your spare set of wheels off you if you do split, my rear is knackered after a morocco trip, maybe interested in fairing also dependent on cost:thumb2

I'd go with this approach, you may be lucky and get what you want.

Failing that, split and list. I'll be amongst the scavengers

Do you find it really efficient now with your ECU remapped?
If It's worth the penny doing it could you give us the address to have it done?
Thanks

Everything about it seems better since the remap. I would recommend it. Wasn't such a big improvement on my mates Xchallenge but still noticed a difference, particularly fuel economy.

It was done by Geoff at Hilltop motorcycles near Leicester.
