If i can sort something that would be great Tim till i can get one.. cheers

I was thinking of an Ohlins damper I have on the Husaberg, it's possibly my top yoke is the same as your's, in which case you could borrow both the mount and damper if you get really stuck.
The Husaberg mount fits under the bar mounts (on top of the yoke) and is approx 15mm thick which may raise your bars too much? and of course the mount for the 'stem' almost certainly won't fit the XC.

If you can make out the mount, you can see on this bike I've spaced the damper up a bit for some clearance to clear the top yoke nut but just clear the bars.
Here you can make out the lower mount for the post.
Trouble is, even if this fitted your bike you can see I have damage to the stem nut and the stem threads are fecked so until I want to change the steering bearing and fit a new stem etc. it has to stay there.
It may be possible on your bike to accurately weld the post or a fitting for the post to the frame which is what some have done.
Of course that depends which top yoke you have.
My 640 which has the same front end as the 950/990 so is different again but cant remember whether the mounts are interchangeable, we may be back to square one where you need to find a mount and use my damper
You can see here, my risers are billet aluminium (more rigid than Rox) but I've had to relieve the underside of the cross piece to give clearance for the damper
