Is anyone else experiencing hot start issues on their XC's? If I leave the bike for 5 minutes or less, then go to start it, I have to use a fair bit of throttle to fire it into life, but if it's left for 10 minutes or more, there are no problems starting.

What's the solution, folks?

When you left it for just 5 mins, was the bike HOT or COLD?? ie was it just after riding it for more than 10 miles or more??

Or was it first thing, after getting it out of the garage and putting your kit on??

Just asking;)

An ECU/TPS reset may help you and you can do it yourself:thumb

It would be after riding for a few miles. A typical scenario where it happens would be when I stop for petrol.

How do I do the ECU/ TPS reset?

Have a look at this link and scroll down to leafman60's post about the hot start issue it may be of some help

Will check that out.:thumb

No throttle should be used ever. Damage to starter sprag can occur when the bike fires with more figour than the usual closed throttle start proceedure.
I would take your idle control valve out and give it a clean. You should find a sticky residue around the valve shuttle, which the small servo struggles to work against.

Mmmmmmmmmy my 2007 Xcountry very much the same. Starts straight away from cold, on the button, but if I stop again, say for petrol, in anything less than two of three miles she's a bugger to start .... and it's praise be that I fitted an Odyssey Hawker battery (PC310) :D

Gracie's later yellow Xcountry never a problem grrrrrrrrrr
