I have a H7 'xenon' bulb for my bike...It does not require any mods as it is only the same watt; but it gives a brighter light in the daytime which is more visible IMO...

Is there any technical reason NOT to change this bulb? I am a bit paranoid about bu**ering up the electrics if I do change it...
Cheers,

It'll blow eventually and you'll have no choice.

Change the H7 bulb for what, other than another H7 bulb of some description?

The bulb I am getting is xenon bulb, but not HID, I believe it is filled with xenon gas instead of halogen gas..

I don't think you'd have any electric problems. I do know there wasa discussion about them a week or so ago and one thought they are a waste of money. In my experience, the non-normal filaments don't last as long as standard ones.

Thanks John... The bulb is only 4 quid, so i thought I would try it. I had one on my R850 and it certainly was more visible in the daytime and at night it was just as good.. It throws a white light that doesn't go any further, but it does give more clarity IMO..

These are the guys I have used a couple of times... I am very pleased with them.

Save yourself the time and effort of replacing H7's every 8,000 miles.

Go for an HID kit from Les Wassall of this parish. You may well only need it on the dip beam, it really is that good.

It will be best bit of 'bling' you will spend money on for your 1200GS. Period.

I assume that needs ballast/heat sink and various skills to fit it... I am a bit of a numpty when it comes to spanners...

Les W will order and fit them for you.

A day out, up to his gaffe and back. Job done.

Seriously, it's worth the effort. I cannot rememeber seeing one negative post about Les or his HID's. In fact, quite the reverse.

Buy with confidence.

I bought some H7 xenon bulbs and they are a waste of money. I did a before and after pic and the Mrs actually thought the standard BMW were brighter than the proclaimed 90 percent increased brightness. Im my experience they make No extra light and I wasted my money.

I now bought some HIDs which I am yet to fit.

I got my dipped beam HID kit from Les and fitted myself, if I can do it, anyone can :D Went up to Les to have the HID spot lights fitted and he did a great job. If you do anything, invest in the dipped HID.

Hi :)

Is this a FS & W area?

BTW putting your e-mail address can let the spammers in on it ;)

Where is Les located? Does he have a web site showing his products?

He's in south Cheshire just round the corner from me. This is quoted from a thread in Vendors of Innovation (or just search for his name).

I agree that fitting the HID system on dip is a doddle and well worth it. All wiring and connectors to suit are supplied ready to plug in, no special skills required. The ballast will have to be mounted somewhere though but various mounting brackets are available for it. Recommend everyone goes for it since you will be more visible during the day and night vision is really improved.
