if no who has had one

wot they like ..

cos i seem to have got one .. well 2 actually but to make one good bike

what they like ?

I think he still has it also Mr IanF also sold one recently on behalf of his neighbour. Apparently okay bike but spare very hard to get hold of and very expensive.

Post us some pics then;)

so it was/is tarka

thats a peice of random memorey recall

not got it yet , and in anycase itl take a weeks to get it into a running condition ,

I looked at one once, before I got the first of my Africa Twins.

Wisdom seemed to be:

1. Shaft drive good, if you want the benefits of shaft drive, but

2. That, and the fact that they are a bit on the weight forward side, make them a pig off road when the going gets to gravel/soft.

Have to say that I didn't ride it on anything soft enough to try any of that theory out. In the end decided that the AT was a safer bit, especially for spares, and went to further with it.

Nicely cultish though. Have a chum who rode one as a street bike in New York - he liked it a lot.

that all sounds good

Im intending to keep it mainly on the blacktop maybe some light greenlaning , i mean i was never under any illusion that it was gonna be a stonking offroader , its gotta weigh 200kgs plus! it i wanted a offroad bike i woulda got a exec400 or summit

probably intending to have a set of rims laced to take some decent road rubber ,size permitting there is a set of spare wheels with the bike so i can use the hubs from them , or whatever ...

these days im spending more nad more time in the bigsmoke (lundan) and i get nervous leaving the bmw in bike bays ,

a great bike that imho honda were silly to let fall by the way in favor of the varadero, id be on one today if theyd gone for a 1000 shaft drive, the rumors of next year still do the rounds.

Lovely bike...sex on wheels in fact.

Blighted by a weak third gear/selector drum which WILL fail.

The necessary parts are now deleted from Honda`s supply, along with some other bits and pieces,so you`re at the mercy of autojumbles or folk with bits stashed away in sheds/lofts,etc.

Yep...it`s vertically split...so a bitch of a job.

Many parts were shared with the first model VT750C Shadow custom, even though the top end was liquid cooled on that bike.

what exactly goes wrong with 3rd gear , as ive got the partially stripped motor on my kitchen table and it apperes to go um and down the box fine and when u turn the input shaft , where the clutch attaches the final drive output spins and i cant make it jump, ok im not putting that much force into it but i was lead to belive that 3rd became unuseable completley!!

oh nad if u need anything outa the shop manual i can copy it for u , got a real honda workshop manual with it !
