Hi:
Dell XPS M1330: 2 years old.
Batt shows 65% charging but does not want to go higher. I think it is nearly fecked.
Bought a replacement, Dell original with capacity tester on the bottom (you press a button and leds light up). 2 leds light, so it must have some charge, or so I thought.
Put it into the 'puter and feckin light at front of keyboard beside power light starts flashing RED.
Icon shows "plugged in, not charging" Seems like batt is faulty, but is it?
Updated to latest Bios A14 - feck all difference.
Unplug power and 'puter cuts out immediately - no batt power reaching it.

Any clues to save me a trip to town to return the new batt?

Could be a motherboard problem, we had a similar problem recently with the same model, power charger runs laptop but wont charge battery. Under warranty the motherboard and charger were replaced which fixed the problem.

This model of laptop needs an extended warranty, ours is 16months old and has had 3 x new motherboards, 2 x chargers, 1 x battery and 1 x optical drive.

One motherboard alone has covered the cost of the extended 4 x yr warranty.

I had a similar thing with my HP laptop - turned out to be the power brick.

It was still under warranty so they sent me a new one, which i had to pay for as it wan't covered

well - they sent me a motherboard and two bricks for free , so i can't complain :nenau
