Wish you luck! I owned one in 1982 and commuted on it. Bought another in eBay 20 years later…and hated it!

I took my test on a borrowed DT175. Mid-70's. My Starfire had munched it's big end again.

Mmmm, loved my MX in the early 80s. 6v = rubbish headlights, and I mean rubbish even by the standards back then and frequently blowing bulbs. Weak alternator - poor starting due to a weak spark. Intrusive vibration from 2-stroke single. Crap brakes for road use, like dangerously weak. But, on green lanes and back roads it was utterly brilliant. I’ve a picture (print) of it somewhere buried up to its handlebars and saddle in a Welsh mountain bog. Brother was riding it. He was even muddier than the bike having gone over ‘bars into said bog. Started first kick once we’d dragged it out. Great bikes but Over-priced imho now. Very small now too.

I bought a Dave Rayner converted DT175 back in the mid seventies. I used it for enduros, trail riding and commuting. One day I’ll build a replica.
