Yamaha xt500 cira 1980

Well Easter Sunday
Had a play with the xt500
Fresh fuel
A wee flash of easi start
One kick and off it went
I need to fine tune the tickover
Give it a full service
Inc new points & a condenser
( that will help)
A VERY meticulous Magwa clean
Hopefully not much more than that

Been busy today

Well today I sorted the fly lead out for attaching the 6v battery charger.( checked and working so no need to remove the nearside side panel.
More cleaning ( seat off ) rear swingarm stroked with the grease gun
Nearly sorted in a week of spare time
I must at least give it a careful spin around the village

Fantastic 😍
Yes
Today I said to my wife I'd better get it listed up for SALE
She said NO, until she had posed on it 👿👿👿
So it may stay a while yet
I bought it from a mate that took it in as a px
I put it on my VMCC exclusive insurance scheme at a cost of
Nothing ! It's DVLA tax free
So it May be here a while longer 😂🤔

While fettling the bike I found that the rear passenger foot rest was loose. ( threaded bolt loose / worn. As a result of being caught busier 12 feet like mine
A little repair needed

Yes I should get my money back plus a bit of a drink. I might seek a kit car out next, something that I can actually use 😎

A dream bike back in my youth, mind you a 250 would’ve been just as nice back then. Is the polished tank original? Or have I not read everything…..

Polished tank is correct for 1980. The top should be painted black with pinstripe red.( that is next)
I've used 4m 2.5" width black satin petrol proof tape
Rear springs will be RED next week
