Big Jets, what is the definition of a true Scotsman? It would appear that by your comment above any Scots wanting to stay within the union are obviously not worthy of the name. That kind of attitude will likely cause your new independent utopia a fair few social problems.
As I have mentioned in previous posts I have Scots family and friends, all very proud of their heritage, some have served in the armed forces, they are fiercely proud to be Scots and British.
Is the great nationalist icon sean connery a true scot? He has chosen not to live there for decades. This whole saga is possibly going to get worse, particularly up north.

Sorry fatal but most of my friends relies and workmates that are voting no are for reasons of money and scared of change .Do you want to rent or buy, well I dont want to buy or rent I can get it for a x in the box.

Irn-Bru don't do team talks but if the did....

Quite liked it myself Wreford ,my talents are wasted ,might get a job in the new utopian , world encomapssing, talented ,socially, economically, naturally, rich Scotland .Its Smashing up here and the rest of the world know it.

Don't be scared? You should be terrified. Yes voters have no idea of what currency, central bank, or lender of last resort Scotland will end up with? What is your share of the National Debt? You can't be independent and in the EU, even if they will have you or exist in a couple of years time. What armed forces and military will you have? Which financial services companies and other businesses will leave? How much will retailers increase prices? What share of North Sea oil tax revenues will you get? What are the funding levels for schools and hospitals? How will you pay for it all, ie how much will taxes increase? How will you cope with the inevitable English backlash (which is only just starting and says a lot about the patience of the English) and how will you cope with being told "No" when you make silly demands? And much, much more. It's extraordinary how seeming intelligent people can act so recklessly.

Andy, all the above is presumably in the event of Scotland gaining Independance. Inevitable English backlash? I'm interested in that. Sounds quite threatening tbh. What for? Having the audacity to vote for Independance when the Scottish people have been given the democratic opportunity to do just that? It's almost akin to the playground bully saying Here, you can have this bag of sweets but then punches your lights out for taking them.

I hope I've misinterpreted your post.

What is Devon so scared off?

He seems to have huge interest in Scotland not gaining independence and he lives so far away from the place?

After all the the recent threats, if i was Scottish i would vote for Independence as those making the threats obviously have self interests at heart.

I hope Scotland takes the hard road. It is always the most interesting and in the end worthwhile.

Threats???

Please supply a list?

Ronno, regardless of the outcome of the referendum, I think there is a huge problem in that England, which is by far the largest part of the UK but which seems to get the shitty end of the stick time after time. We are as pissed off as the Scots with the numpties running the show but we get no say in what happens to our country: how can it be fair that Scotland with less then 9% of the population dictate to the other 91% of the UK what our future will be? Tail wagging the dog?

Let me put it this way (and please, any Scot, answer me honestly) if the English had behaved the way the Scots have and helped themselves to free education for their youngsters but made the Scots pay, if we had gifted ourselves to free prescriptions, eye tests, old age age care, a parliament etc etc and the Scots were deprived of all this and then the English had gifted themselves a vote on the future of the union and told the Scots " feck you's, it's none of your fecking business!!!" How would you have taken it? The English have sat back and raised an eyebrow but now we are getting pissed right off and who can blame us? The Scots would have gone mental if we had treated you then same way: am I wrong? Is that threatening or a real grievance? Honest answer? Any Scot?

What if the English had behaved the way the Scots have behaved???

edit, this is what I mean by backlash:

If the Scots gain independence, then you wont have to pay for all that and monies can be directed to serve the English, those left, better.

You would think the dog who is being wagged by his tail wont mind the docking, then the dog can get on about his business.

The English have been right pissed of with Scots running their country, Blair and Brown, now maybe you wont have to worry. Farage will steer England a merry course into the future........

Since when did you start speaking for Ronno?

Watch the stock market on the run up to the vote. That will tell you all you need to know.

If the yes win, the market will crash, wiping billions of everyone's pension pots. As a nation, we will all be considerably poorer.

In the two years or more of uncertainty whilst the two governments horse trade the split of assets, there will be no investment in any company that trades across the UK, because of the excessive risks.

The Governments will find it hard to borrow due to the uncertainty, and if the governments can't borrow, they can't pay the wages and pensions of public sector workers. We are likely to be pushed back well below the depression of 2008.

I hope I'm wrong, but the economic indicators are starting to build.
Now we all hate the bankers and the politicians for driving us on the rocks then. We will have nothing but kind words to say about the Scottish Nationalists if they screw up our economy. We will just give them a hug and say never mind mate, were all in this shit that you created together. Yeh! really!

So the Scottish vote affects us all. Though we have no say.

Makes you wonder - why the "Better Together" Campaign nor the Government and shadow party - never mention any of that ?

Markets will go up and down. The £ also. This will happen as we approach the UK election next year also. It's not a reason to abandon democracy.

In Peebles yesterday, i stood slack jawed (no change there then) as 3 older lads in school uniform passed on their way to or from some school event. Were they talking about fitba'? Music? Burdz? Nope. The propspects for an independent Scotland!

The wifie walking her dog past me laughed at my gobsmacked expression : "Kids talking politics,eh! What are the chances?"

Has to be a good thing though.

Has that knobber who just kept cutting and pasting from elsewhere stopped doing it yet?

Ssshhh... He's stocking up on Solvite and new scissors at B & Q for the run in. Expect cut and paste overdrive starting Monday in the early hours.

He doesn't but I agree with much of what he says there. If Scotland does gain Independance although that's unlikely: we have (among others) Fatal, Captain Black and Ian J Whatsisname's assurances that that won't happen, then you'll no longer have to subsidise the Scots freebies.

In truth, if the boot was on the other foot, I'd probably be pissed off as well. I just don't understand the logic of trying (desperately at times) to persuade a nation that by the sounds of it are nothing more than a bunch of drunken, drug taking freeloaders to remain part of the Union.

I've read elsewhere that there could even be a violent backlash to Scottish Independance (although the threat was made via keyboard and not personally). I'd hope that not to be the case. Mind you, violence is yet another Scottish stereotype so I'd doubt they anyone up here would be too bothered :D
