Hi, I have never used blue tooth on a bike before, so I have tried pairing a iPhone 3 and a Samsung s2 with the nav 5.

I downloaded Garmin smart phone link and both phones connected. I was hoping that I could simply have my phone in my jacket and listen to the voice instructions over the wired head phones connected to the phone.

Neither phone seems to want to pass on the instructions, is it me being naïve and thinking it was possible in the first place.

I don't want to be bothered with phone calls its only the route instructions I wanted. I certainly don't want to be going down the blue tooth helmet route either. Up till now I have just taken my instruction's by sight no problems.

So is it possible and have I to alter any settings ?

Thank you in grateful anticipation.

Steve

Hi Schtum, Thanks for that quick response. I thought that would be the case, far to simple. At least the question probably raised smile from the GPS aficionados.

Looks like taking my prompts visually, and that not a great hardship.

In my experience, all problems were resolved when I took the SatNav out of the bluetooth loop.

I have paired many dozens if not 100s of BT devices but the Garmin, iPhone, Sena setup never worked for more than phone call or two.

I now successfully use a U Clear and iPhone, it worked out of the box, never needed an update.

The GPS unit won't send voice instructions to your phone.

Ditto

If you want to hear instructions you need a Bluetooth headset or other adaptor to accept the audio from the Nav-V

You don't have to pair the Nav-V and your phone if you don't need it

You need something to get audio from the Nav and Bluetooth is the only option there is no wired output.

There are known issues with the Nav-V and some phones don't work properly.
