Had a great afternoon in the Western Yorkshire Dales and did another 180 miles (after doing 200 miles yesterday in North Lincs -why are GS's so tempting to just ride and ride - guess we all know the answers !!!)

Superb 'hidden' roads.................plenty of Police activity on main routes and aftermath of at least one bike crash, (yet again, seems one everytime we go out in the Dales)

Even formulated the beginnings of what could host a 'mini' GS Event - watch this space

Anyway here's a superb pic of the 'hidden' and little travelled road from Stainforth, approaching Halton Gill in Littondale, near Foxup.

In the distance is one of my all-time favourite off-road trail highways from Halton Gill over that hill, into Yockenthwaite in Langstrothsdale.

However it's not even remotely possible on a GS, due to a large bog on the top of the Fell (just over the skyline)..............just about 'doable' on an Enduro bike

All great Trail Riding territory with the famous Foxup trail road, just to the left (out of shot).............another 'bugger' of bogs and only Enduro bike territory......

Yorkshire at it's finest...........

Done the area many times John, last year on my push bike where i 'bonked' 20 miles from home and crawled home like an old feller.....engine every time now. Nice pic

Excellent Trails Sadly now closed :(

Fabulous Johnny. I need to make a trip oop that way :D I also need to find a good book on the history of British argriculture and forestry. Has Yorkshire always been so denuded of tree's in the same way as Scotland? Not a criticism it looks fantastic, just interests me.

Post more if you have them :thumb

Yep Dazzer...............shame about Halton Gill and Foxup being closed.........used to ride them 2-3 times a month, 10-15 years ago in my TRF heydays.............same goes for Mastiles Lane and Arncliffe Cote.........again superb Green lanes and part of a good network in that part of the world.

JN..............the Yorkshire Dales and the Yorkshire Moors have been treeless for a few thousand years I guess, however there are odd pockets of small 'farmed' pine woods/forests

Left hand view towards Foxup

Sorry that's all the pics I had time to take (rushing to keep up with Legger)

Seriously thinking about a 'bike cam' to video and take stills.....some of the scenery whilst 'on bike' is awesome...........Wales, last weekend............North Lincs on Sat and Yorkshire Dales yesterday (Sun)
