You all told me.....

Using Strava on an eBike is almost as bad as drowning kittens when it comes to causing anguish.

Yes but surely if you can’t exercise without knowing your heart rate and cadence every millisecond, then you MUST share such knowledge with other like-minded plebs !!! :-)

Only if you don’t select eBike :D

And you can’t do that until after it’s posted and you then edit - Which means for a brief moment in time you have KoM or see just how fast some unassisted riders are.

Strava is good for finding new routes/trails as you can see who has ridden the same section as you and then see their total route

You do end up with a few Strava Scars acquired while trying to gain or defended a KOM particularly later in the summer when the brambles have grown out onto the trails - And eventually you’ll get a really quick rider put you well and truly in your place

I have to disagree...

You can certainly go out on an EMTB and have an easy ride but the ability to have a hard workout that’s comparable to a non assisted bike is there.

I can attain max heart rates that I get on unassisted bikes and average heart rates, if you push, can be very near what they’d be on unassisted bike rides for me on a like for like ride that’s 147 bpm average unassisted 143 bpm assisted. On longer rides the eBike can have a higher average bpm as I find on a non assisted bike I hold a little in reserve.

In summary, stop meandering and start pushing you lazy so an so's :D

PS: Do I know what I’m talking about? I’d say yes... I’ve been monitoring heart rate and average heart rates for 20+ years when I use to race my single speed 20 years ago (when I was 40) I could max over 200bpm and average for a 90 min race 184bpm. Since then I’ve had a period of losing my fitness and Afib but my heart rate is getting back up there since getting the eBike but still work to do

You’re right. Switch it off, and you’ll burn more calories than a normal mtb. As I did a few times today. I need to stop cheating! :D

I do love the way you can see an obstacle that you think there’s no way you could ride up, slap it into emtb mode, and just power through. It’s hilarious! And the walk assist is really handy if you absolutely can’t ride over something. :beerjug:

Btw, do you all remove your batteries when you wash your bikes?

I don't, but only wash gently with a garden hose, then remove after washing

I washed it earlier, and didn’t even think about the battery! Just popped it out now, and there were only a few drops in there. No jet wash on this bike!

I think when we used to ride at night through the winters, bikes were absolutely fucking minging, how do you clean them when they get that bad cause it needs at least a hose to it.

I made a Velcro attached plastic mud/stone guard that sits on the front of the battery and sweeps under the motor casing. Cheap as chips and saves a lot of shite getting into those connections through the gap where the battery meets the frame. I would only wash the bike with a slow running hose or a very wet cloth/sponge
Here a picture or 2 = cost me 2 quid for velcro and hot air gunned a piece of a domestic header tank lid 1mm thick plastic
