Young German girl had her bike stolen in Edinburgh.... anyone of assistance?

You'd hate to think someone left your country with theft being the over riding memory. Low life fukwits shouldn't have that ability so at least we can pay her repairs. Good on you for housing her. Where is she heading, what are her plans once repaired? I'm sure the community can help her out with some places to kip en route in any direction from the big smoke

Well done fellas..best bike forum anywhere....

But have the press picked up the positive...is there any coverage of the help and support given to a German visitor by a bunch of complete strangers? Have they been told?

Not to the best of my knowledge. Do you think the mainstream media would be interested or are you thinking about the motorcycle press? I'm also not sure that Maike would want the publicity. She doesn't really strike me as an attention seeking young lady. :nenau

To answer my own question, my son attempted to contact both BBC Scotland and the Edinburgh Evening News about it. Neither of them got back to him. I might well give BiKE Magazine a call tomorrow.

I understand what you say about Maike.

Simon Weir deputy editor of Ride Magazine is a member here and it might be worth drawing his attention to the threads? Simon W.

What has been done here is a good thing; its always too easy to concentrate on the negatives and forget 'good things'

I e-mailed the journalist at The Edinburgh Evening News who wrote the article on the Muirhouse kids and she hasn't got back to me. I spoke to Hugo Wilson at BiKE and to Colin Overland at RiDE a few minutes ago and I'm e-mailing them links to the threads on here and the one on Adv Rider.
