ZFE What does it all mean?

I appear to have a problem with my ZFE ('04 R1200 GS). With some research though these Threads, I think I have a basic idea of what the ZFE does, but I cannot find any explanation of the various TYPE's of ZFE. They appear to be;
Central Vehicle Electronics (ZFE-Basic (low, mid, high), ZFE-Low, ZFE-High(full, no-ESA, ESA-only

Can anyone throw some light on this matter please?

The ZFE is the "Black Box" that controls lights, heated grips, Acc. sockets, etc. Mine has gone faulty, and is very expensive to replace. The history of my problem is on another thread on this site, called "Battery drain problem".
