I have been using the zumo and ultimate's in ear monitors for a while now.
mainly for listening to tunes on a trip and the Nav stuff..

Got fed up with the wires flapping all over the place and snagging on stuff.

Thought i'd use the BT capability of the Zumo, so instead of going for a Scala/autocom (because i'm mormally solo) i googled for a Bt headset with a3.5mm socket for seperate earphones. These things are normally worn in the ear for handsfree use.

Found a couple and went for the Sony one

It works as expected :bounce1:bounce1 ...no more wires :clap

I will pair this with a BT phone when it arrives (£22.47 at Tesco :D)and if the wife wants to speak urgently!!! or i need to make a call i SHOULD be able to flip the Shoei and talk into the BT dongle thing. I don't have any faith in the voice stuff working whilst moving due to wind noise etc

HTH somebody...

Sounds like just the set-up I've been looking for. Got some part/model numbers for the BT earset because there's a lot of Sony things out there?

Cheers.

Howard, i have this one:

Sony HBH-DS200

Had it from Amazon..

£29 IIRC

i tried e-blag as well they had a micro something or other from Japan
£9.99 +£9.99

figured i'd spend a little more, then when/if it went TU i could at least send it back..

as a bit of an update on this thread.....

after a bit of a think... stereo would be better (of course)

so i needed a BT transmitter with a 3.5mm input (to enable plugging into the Zumos Stereo output)

google search came up with a few, mainly expensive ,options.

£22.50 plus P+P = ??

I found the same thing at Microdirect.co.uk

£10.41 plus P+P @ £2.49

There's lots of stuff like that on this site http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/12782.htm
However, one thing I have discovered and don't fully understand yet is connectivity. i.e. some units only connect to certain things. Before looking at this subject I thought Bluetooth was Bluetooth was Bluetooth. It seems it's not that simple any more.
This... http://www.fonejuice.co.uk/products/productDetail.asp?productCode=MAU ....was also an interesting solution but might exclude the GPS side of things unless they use the same format.

My set up would be....phone to Zumo (which it does very well) then Zumo to headset with my moulded ear plugs plugged in. Then my music player, with dongle, connected to the headset also.
What I'm going to do sometime is take every thing with me to a Sony shop and see if it all connects together. One thing I need to try is whether the GPS voice commands can be heard with the music playing.

All that faff to get rid of a cable or two, and then needs charging every couple of hours.

Some would say that wires are a "faffing" waste of space. They're so last century man!

I'm too forgetfull and rip the bloody wires when I get off the bike. Also, being connected to the bike is not always a good thing.
