Zumo 550 and SD card

What does the card actually do? I know it stores music and pictures but I don't need those features so what else is it used for? Do I need one at all? Is all the info on City Navigator NT 2008 actually stored in the Zumo already?

If you're staying within Europe, then you don't need it. If you want to add extra mapping or music, you do

You can use the card to share routes and waypoints with other Zumo's by exporting them to the card and then putting it in the other unit. I did this with James Burtons Zumo on the Turkey Trot
