I've recently taken delivery of a Zumo 550 & I've just wired in the power lead to the bike.

I see at the GPS end it screws into the cradle with 2 tiny screws. When you're touring do you guys leave the cradle on permanently?
I can see me dropping the screws if I remove them often enough.
I'm thinking of fitting a nylock nut to the RAM clamp to replace the plastic wingnut.

What do you do?

I leave my cradle bolted on all the time(not with wing nuts) , just remove the unit and slip it in a pocket when refilling eating etc..

The RAM mount in the box has two 1/4" - 20 Nyloc nuts :augie

:nenau you'll talk about making the cradle or mount impregnable, but forget about the arm :augie, simple trick is dome head nut and dome head screw http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showpost.php?p=268745&postcount=15 or read the full thread if curious at all :D
