ZUMO 550 MOUNTING

I have just bought the BMW bracket to fit my Zumo 550 to my 2007 GS Adventure.

Whilst testing it the other day I noticed that the unit shakes a lot, particularly when the bike is idling (it improves somewhat when the revs rise).

Does anyone have any particular experience with the BMW bracket and if so can they put my mind at rest re my Zumo shaking its insides to bits and Garmin not being interested in a warranty claim.

Should I have spent the extra money and purchased the Touratech bracket with the extra cushioning?

I have the Touratech mount and have exactly the same issue.

Its fitted to the upper screen brace. My assumption has been that's the way it has to be cos' the screen can move and cos' the screen can move it can't be solid. Add the two stroke engine and there you go - a vibrating sat nav.

Counter thoughts?

I have a custom billet bracket on my R1150R and at about 120mph the picture shakes....

or is it that the picture is stationary and the whole bike is shaking??

Other options include the BMW bracket....I'm also considering options and I'm not certain which way to go.

I like the second one, other than the eye-watering price!!

I chose to mount mine off the handlebar mounts.........I don't look at the screen if I'm on the move (prefer to be looking where I'm going!....rely on audio) but it's ideally placed for a glance when stopping at juntions etc if necessary. It's mounted on a nice aally custom mount by GadgetGuy

I use the BMW bracket goes on the yolk using longer handlebar bolts.

Seems to avoid the vibe issues, and is pretty cheap (by BMW standards)
