Updated to 2012 maps overnight. switched on a couple of miles from home and it put me 500 yards or so off the road. Tried switching of and on, changing settings, nothing working. Route is calculating well and fast, have to zoom out to see where it is though as I appear to be in no mans land. Anyone got any idea's?

Thanks in advance
Danny

• Switch off the unit
• While Pressing the bottom right hand corner of the screen with your finger power up the unit.
• Choose Yes to clear all user data. (It did have another question first something to do with which country you were in – I just pressed to England).
• Once this has been done leave the unit switched on, outside in an open area in full view of the sky (Locked on the bike/in the car) for 45 minutes so it can acquire satellites.

On a separate note swissrob. I am driving to Venice Thursday/Friday, can you help with a good route for fast cheap road in a car. Want to go down the side of Zurich, up onto the Fluella Pass, through the tunnel into Livigno. Is there a good road to get me to zurich from the channel tunnel?

Tried this, no difference. Can't work out how to go back to older map, will have to go back to Garmin's European HQ again, was there last Friday where they managed to get my 550 to stop freezing and turning off. Lucky it's only a few miles down the road.

i have done the UK run a few times i either go across to germany and then down or just stick to the french autoroute.... i do the german route more often as i sit around 160kmh, sayes me a bit of time, and no pissing about with the toll booths and questions from the Douane/ Gendarmarie.

both routes come into Basel where the swiss will happily relieve you of 40chf for a vignette, unless you come off 1 junction before and go thru a non motorway border ( st.louis in FR or weil am rhein DE ) and then scoot straight back on 5 mins later at the next junction. :augie

a note to remember if you come on the autobahn, very close to the basel border you may see a huge line of trucks on the autobahn, stick to the far LH lane and go past them, they are waiting for customs clearance, DO NOT sit in the Q behind them as a lot of foreign cars do. Weil exit is just past the last truck BTW! and you are visiting your mate in Basel if u get stopped at the regional border, unlikely as there are hundreds of UK cars here.

in CH highway speeds around 130 is fine, in tunnels/50/80?100 zones there will be cameras and they are not bright orange! but wouldnt worry about it as nothing will come thru the post.

Thanks for this, remember the lorry queue when I went to the Stelvio on my bike in 2009. Will go down through France and back up through Germany.

Zumo sorted, have to admit to being a complete muppet, had only set central Europe on my map update, so as soon as I added UK through mapsource this morning, all issues gone.

Garmin talked me through it on the phone (bit embarrassing).
