I've seen conflicting info regarding this feature on the Zumo 550; some say it has it, others say it doesn't. So the obvious thing is to ask the people who'd know! Can it tell you your current location, and where the nearest petrol / hospital / ATM etc. are? It seems strange that less expensive Garmin GPS (and the TomTom Rider) would have it, and not the Zumo.

Also, when parking the bike / car, or leaving a hotel, is it straightforward to set a marker so that you can find your way back - I've got no sense of direction whatsoever! :o

Thanks in anticipation.

yes to all

if you have one i can tell you how to find what your after, an if you have not, it does
hope that helps

"Where am I" should be just to turn it on and push 'View Map' - once it's found the satellites, the display shows where you are.

Then, push 'Where To', select 'Food Lodging...' and the shops/hotels/ATMs etc. that it displays are all near where you currently are.

Thank you both. I'm in the process of choosing between the Zumo and TomTom Rider. It seems both have pros and cons but the Zumo seems to be preferred here. I'm pleased to see it can do this, it'd help in Northumberland (say) where petrol stations are a bit thin on the ground.

The new Nuvi 550 would actually appear to do what I'm looking for, but isn't due 'til October and I travel on the 3rd. :(

If you press the arrow / bike / car or whatever symbol in the centre of the screen to show where you are, lets you create that as a waypoit.

You might be able to show the track log as well, but have been playing with too many GPS's recently to remember if this is correct with the zumo. Also, you can add the traffic master aerial to get updates on road jams / works etc, which is usefull!

Thanks, would that include a description / coordinates so that if you needed to report a breakdown or accident, you could give a location?

Pushing the icon gives you the map reference on mu Zumo - you might be able to change this if you tweak the settings.

Not the way Tomtom does it (witch is prefered) , it gives coordinates and the possibility to store it as a waypoint. But no address / city info. That you have to find on the map by zooming in (or out)
