Anyone know if i can upload the software to convert my existing 660 to use on my new 2013 bike which has the BMW cradle and handlebar toggle which is designed for the Nav IV ??

The BMW mechanic I was talking to yesterday told me no, it couldn't be done
A 660 would only fit and be powered up in the cradle, to use it you'd have to use the touchscreen apparently, as normal

Thanks , i had my suspicions that that would be the case , will pop to the BM shop tommorow and try my 660 in their bike ,,

I use a 660 in a navigator cradle. It works and charges but the buttons on the cradle have no affect.
There was no mention in the manual for the navigator about the wheel controlling it on the LC. I've got mine plugged in, and the wheel will operate some functions, but not as many as I'd have thought. I'm sure I'm missing something

I have a Nav IV and candidly have never use the cradle buttons. As long as it comes on and charges, so what?

I used to have my StreetPilot 2820's IR remote mounted to my hand-protector.
I used it every ride with GPS.. to change the zoom level as required. (I hate auto zoom).
I'm going to miss that.. enough that I may design my own switch-gear for the next GPS (I'm giving 660 a miss.. it's too old now and I'll wait till the next one comes)
I know that being able to change zoom from your RH thumb is useful.. so if I'd bought a WC, instead of a 90th anniversary GSA, I'd have gone for the switch gear and a Nav. IV..

I've only just started using touchscreen gps in the last year
So a wheel is far too racy for me
I've just bought a K1300GS which came with the BMW Motorrad cradle for the 660, I mounted and used the 660 in it today and I can confirm that the cradle buttons do not work on the GPS and you have to use the touch screen. In fact I was going to start a thread asking the question until I came upon this thread.

I test rode the K1600GT yesterday and asked this question, salesman at Riders of Cardiff assired me that with a software update, the 660 will work just the same as the NavIV including the switch gear.
All we need is the name of the satisfied customer...
That trick has never worked on any previous Navigator.
The Zumo 660 and Nav IV use different firmware and are not compatible.
