i have managed to crack the screen on my unit:blast

it still works but some areas of the screen don't react to touch.
can i buy and fit a new screen myself i ask?

cheers:thumb2

contact garmin, see what price they quote for the fix...might be viable rather than faff about with it yourself, unless you are an electronics expert used to dismantling gizmos....in which case you would know the answer to your question already, wouldnt you?:thumb

I'd leave the job to Garmin.

With that decision made - I would send it back without asking what the cost will be.

I think there is more chance of a free repair - than them ripping you off with an unnecessary cost. :rob

not bad at all richard, wishing we had some dry weather, done so little mileage since the dolomites its tragic!
how goes the soft roading....and the house move?
we should meet up for a bimble around wales sometime...:thumb2

thank's all for the responses.
it looks as though at the end of the day i should place the Zumo in the hands of Garmin and trust they will give me value for money and peace of mind that the job will be reet :thumb2

now gone off to Garmin
£135.31 including return postage.
fully recon. unit, latest software but not mapping.
back in 5 days after they get it.

135 squid i needn't have needed to spend (should've taken more care tony) but hey, shit 'appens as they say :blast

just back off holiday and the box from garmin was waiting for me.
opened it up to be greeted with the sight of a new (recon.:nenau) garmin in the box with all the kit, ie. car and bike mounts, cables, chargers in fact the whole shooting match and 2012 maps to boot (the broken one had 2010 mapping).
the thing is that the new one is the 660LM with the lifetime maps (not sure at this point if that is available to me) so all in all 135 quid for a new unit with all the stuff can't be bad, well done Garmin :thumb2
