Zumo 660 extra cables removal, or car mount on tank?

I'm trying to get my zumo holder to go on my bike. I've got the ram mount one, but it has two extra cables.
I'm assuming it's audio and something else for alternative hook ups.
I don't need these, nor do I need a long power cable.
Can I just cut these off, or shorten the whole thing to get rid of all the excess?
Can I dismantle the unit and cut them off at source?
Alternatively, I've got the in car windscreen holder with the suction plate which would adhere to my tank.
Anyone shortened cables/used the suction holder on the bike?

I used to have 660's. If you open the mount you'll see 2 connectors, one is for power and other is for data/audio. I disconnected the data one then cut the whole cable down to length and put a simple waterproof 2 way quick connecter on the power wires so I could move the mount easily between bikes.

Same with my 660. It's like a rat's nest when all that's needed is a single cable as per the car mount. I've thought of trying to obtain a ram mount to fit the ball in the car mount iyswim? Anyone know of such a thing?

Not sure as bikes use a mixture of M8 and M10 in different thread sizes and some are reversed thread too.
You can get just about every combination of adapter to make it work though.

Don’t cut the cables.

Why?

When you come to sell the cradle, it will have more value if it’s complete and not savaged by a bod with scissors.

Bundle them up neatly and secure (equally neatly) with a cable tie.

At the time I cut them all.
Not sure the 660 will be resellable any longer (it was already bad when it came out as new) to be fair. I wouldn't worry too much.

Do any new navs fit these holders? If so, I may update it. Don't think I'd be offering the holder for sale at any time.
And to be fair, I only really need a nav about twice a year. I prefer to have my mobile plugged in for charging and a bit of music.

Thanks for that. Yeah, I was having second thoughts about the suction mount. I've cut out the audio leads etc. I'll connect the nav to the optimate lead and put it in a tank bag with a window or there's a ram mount that connects to the tank fixing and fit the original nav bracket to it. Or maybe fit one in the mirror screw thread as above.
For the amount of time I really need a nav it's not worth hard wiring it.
I've hard wired a C USB plug for my mobile.
Even though the FJR has a 12v outlet in the glove box, it's to just too small for my smart phone, and there's no way to bring a lead out of the top without damaging the lid.
