Zumo 660 problem - any suggestions?

Evening All!
I recently updated my unit with Maps 2015.4 and at the same time updated the unit's software. Since then the unit powers up but will not go past the "Garmin" intro screen. The speaker also crackles. if I remove the battery and try again then the unit will occasionally power up correctly but it 50\50 at best. I had a similar problem with the unit last year during a trip to france but is seemed to rectify itself following a software update.
Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? I'm thinking it might be a problem with the unit itself rather than a software issue.
Any guidance (excuse the pun) welcome!

Hook it back up to your PC.

Let it go through its format procedure - then unplug and wait for it to power up again.

That seems to have done the trick Al - many thanks.
However I'm now getting a message "cannot unlock maps". When I hit OK the unit works fine and appears to be using the latest maps? Any ideas please??

Are you sure that it is showing "detailed" maps and not just basic coverage?

If the maps are detailed - then carry on using.

If it is just the basic map - then you will need to unlock the maps. Not easy for me to guess at this without sitting down with the unit plugged into the PC, and logged into "Mygarmin".

If you zoom out on the unit - you should see "silver blocks" surrounding all the map areas which are on your zumo?
