Can someone tell me how long it takes to preveiw a rout on the 660.

Reason i ask is that i have done 14 routes for a journey to france in the next 3 weeks but when i wish to preview a route on the zumo screen it takes up to 5 mins for it to load - is this normal ?
The routes vary from 150 miles with 30 via points to 290 mile with 40 via points.
Confused as a zumo 550 can preview in under 10 secs

So if anyone has similar routes and could see how long their unit takes i would be gratefull as will be talking ,again, to Garmin

The latest software update is making the route preview very, very slow. It freezes my 660 completely, so I have given up trying.

Thanks Wapping , i take it that you have given up on previewing routes ? or trying to update.
Sorry to be thick !

:)

I have given up previewing routes on my 660 as a bad job, at least until the next software update.

Editing (changing / deleting via points and recalculation etc) I do do on the device and have done it on the move, too. That seems to work OK.

Seems we both have come to the same conclusion , pity realy as the 660 is a nice bit of kit ( 550 was never bad tho) Further to my last rant , garmin have come back to me about the time a preview takes and agree that that the time is exessive and will contact me when they get a response from garmin bods - keep you posted -with how they can fix it,

Hi

You could import your route into mapsource and then view it in Google Earth, you can even speed it up and slow it down. i did this last year with my routes i did for my German trip last year ( very trick ) :beerjug:

Hi

After you have opened up your file in mapsource, click on the view tab in mapsource and open the tab up, at the bottom you will see view in google earth , click on this to open it up. When Google Earth has opened up click on the mapsource tree in the left hand side bar and open it up, then click the routes and open that up,then path's and open that up, then you will see the name of the route you opened up in Google Earth from mapsource, highlight this file by clicking on it, under your route file name there is a slider with a box to the right of it with 3 squares joined together click this to start to play your route and another box opens up in the main map screen with play, fast forward, reverse and so on. Sit back and enjoy the route you created in mapsource in Google earth view.

hope this helps :type :clap :type
