I've got a Zumo 660. Maps are all up to date to the latest version and I also (had just) updated the software version.

Went for a ride the other day, tootling along and decided I'd listen to some music. All my music is stored on my SD card.

After a couple of minutes of playing, the music stopped and, glancing down to the device, the Zumo had powered itself off!

I turned back the power, and carried on (without music) for 10 mins or so and all was fine. Decided to put the music back on and (again) after 3-4 minutes, the device just simply switched off.

This happened 3 times and the only common denominator was my playing music. If I didn't the device was fine.

I've reported the problem to Garmin but they can't seem to replicate it.

Has anyone else had this problem?

where is the music stored, is it on the internal memory or on an sd expansion card.

just try removing the music from the sd card and put it in the on board memory to see if it does the same, also do you have your maps on the sd card as well.

I've got both the maps and the music on my SD card. Garmin recommended that I put all my maps on the SD card.

The music takes up 1.81Gb of data and consists of just 12 albums.

I've only got 1.85Gb of data left on my device. There's over 7Gb of space left on my SD card.

While I could move the music across, I'm a bit wary of doing so and leaving so little space left on the device in case I get 'other' problems!

You'll be needing that spare device before your Spanish epic.... Oh, and get rid of the silly music... It's a GPS device, not an entertainment center for bikers wot want to feel alive when hooning their awsome steeds....

:agree It was shiite quality anyway ......:D

Probably not the same but last month my 660 started doing the same thing , powered up fine in the cradle and then after 10 minutes or so switched off. for some reason the battery was rattling loose (never done it before) small thin strip of foam between the battery and the lid and it has been fine since, just completing a 2500 mile trip
