Fitted zumo 660 to GS with Autocom active duo using correct autocom splitter cable. Navigation volume not too bad but mp3 music and phone really low can hardly hear. Anyone else had problem and know how to solve it.

Good question, i also have a 660 and just about to buy a wired autocom ......any negatives would be helpful in my decision.

Regards

IMO, you'll have an uphill struggle to get any wired system to work the phone with the 660 in bluetooth mode, should be fine with the phone hard wired and on auto answer. If the directions and the music is low then it would almost certainly be down to audio settings set to low in ether the 660, Autocom, speaker placement or the unit is faulty.

My 660 is hard wired to an Autocom Logic and my Blackberry is connected to 660 via Bluetooth. No problem at all with phone. I make and receive calls and the volume is fine at any legal speed. Same with navigation and music. Volume on 660 is set at 60% for both nav and music with master volume at 90%. Its good up to about 70 mph but over that its just noise, whatever the volume is set to.

I would read GSrich's post on leaving Autocom as they are now in receivership!:(

Buy a Starcom:thumb2

Andy can you tell me which inputs you are using, are you using a BT dongle, can you be more specific on your install please as Autocom informed me that they had trouble getting the 660 to work and were working on a solution, obviously that won't be available now.

You say that yours works "up to about 70 mph" then it's just noise, Have you tried you vox setting? or may be the mike is becoming live due to your helmet noise.

Andy are you there :augie

Would love to be able to get a system to work with the phone in BT mode, I'm self employed and have to be on call while out riding. If you could be so kind as to post a list of parts you have used and how you have connected it, I'm sure there would be a lot of peeps on this site very grateful. :thumb

Oh and my phone is a BB Bold 9000.

C'mon Andy, how about a bit of new year cheer and help me and others out with a list of parts, seeing as you have it working :thumb

Reply delayed due to changing from PC to iMac. Took a while but back on line and the iMac is GREAT. 27 inch screen is awesome!!

Back to Zumo. It's not rocket science. i have a basic Autocom Logic but the set up worked just as well on the 5 year old Autocom on my old GS. Usual helmet mic and earphone set up but as Autocom advise it is important to get them in the right place.

The Zumo 660 is connected to the Autocom with isolator part no 2190. It is important that you use version 3 of this for a 660. I had a version 2 which worked on my 550 but when I could not get my 660 working a phone call to Autocom resulted in a FOC exchange for version 3 (there is a sticker on the unit saying V2 or V3). The Logic does not seem to mind which input is used but my old Autocom was fussy which one was used. The wrong one gave audio in but no mic out.

My phone is a Blackberry 9000. I did have a Palm Centro. Both BTed with the Autocom OK but the Palm would not pass phone book info across. The Blackberry does everything via the Zumo including voice dialing from the helmet mic.

I have a Alan HP 4476 PMR radio connected to the Autocom as well which has an Autocom PTT button on the left handlebar. This gives good clear comms to wife's bike but never could get on with VOX as I was never sure whether I was transmitting or not. Finally I occasionally us another Autocom input for my Ipod, mainly to use the radio on it.

All the above is perfectly clear at legal speeds. Over that it is still OK for phone calls but I find the music is not so good. Not a problem with the Autocom, it's just that the ambient noise is too high.

Cheers Andy :thumb

I've recently dug out of a drawer an old unit but can't get the phone to work, I can hear whoever is calling but they can't heat me.

I doubt that this Active plus will work and maybe a Logic unit is what I need.

Thanks again Andy :beerjug:

That was exactly my problem until the isolator was updated to V3. According to Autocom Garmin made a change in the way the 660 worked compared with the 550 which meant that Autocom had to redesign the isolator.

It seems likely its the isolator that's the problem, not the model of Autocom. Snag is that in Autocom's current state it may not be possible to get this confirmed.

Many thanks again Andy, maybe worth buying the isolator first to test. Will phone Chainspeed tomorrow.

Thanks again Andy....I owe you a
