Zumo and Autocom Bluetooth

I have a Zumo 550 and a Autocom 300. I only got the stereo lead today to connect the Zumo to the Autocom.

Can someone tell me what is the best way to connect through Bluetooth?
I have the autocom dongle but now that the Zumo is wired directly to the Autocom unit, do I still need this dongle.

I ask this because when I put the Zumo in the car I had to turn off the Bluetooth on the Zumo because I have the Nokia bluetooth in the car and both together were in conflict.

If I do still need the dongle, which do i show my phone to, the dongle or the Zumo and which do I show the Zumo to, the dongle or my phone?

Alot of questions I know but hopefully all you people of great experinence can help me.

Pair your phone to the zumo

In the zumo settings for bluetooth set phone only.

Stereo music (mp3) and navigation go through the wire but phone calls use bluetooth.

Strange. Are you saying that the autocom doesn't work at speed? Gotta say, I've been using an autocom for several years, and it's never been a problem at any speed. Speech is always clear as a bell.

Autocom works at speed! Doesn't starcom fragile leads break after a few weeks of use!

Have mine set up this way too. Works great.

Just back home from work and used the Zumo for the first time with music playing through the headset and set the sat nav to home just to see what volume and such was like.
Even with both volumes set to 100% i have to say it was not great even at low speeds.
Before I got my Zumo I had my portable MP3 player playing through the headset and found this much better than the volume of the Zumo today.

I have the Zumo stereo lead going into Aux 2 and rider volume up full. Is this the best way?

Sounds like you need to turn up the Zumo's master volume control which ive covered on here many a time. The auto volume via your Super Pro can supply music via the Zumo well into the triple figures we have found even with ear plugs used. Anything lower normally is due to the master volume not being raised up and also poor speaker fitting inside the helmet.

Seatownmaster, have you got any official proof to back this up or do I need to provide you with the last couple of Ride magazine reviews

Yeah Rich, I have the master volume up full as well. I reckon I will have to check the position of the speakers in the helmet or else pay a visit to an audioligist for a hearing test.
Although one thing I did notice was that the BGNS did not seem to be working when playing the music through the Zumo(was not getting louder at increased speeds) whereas I never had a problem with this when using the portable MP3 player.

Will have to play around with it all later and see what it is like on the way to work in the morning.

You could if Starcom hadn't refused (bottled out??) to supply sample equipment to RiDE magazine for comparison with Autocom products!

I agree with the positioning of the speakers, the slightest of change to there placement can make a huge difference to the actual volume level heard.

I have exact same set up

zumo 550
autocom bluetooth dongle - into aux 1
supressed stereolead -into aux 2

I have the volume on zumo at max and then calibrate the autocom 200 sound accordingly.

I wear ear plugs and the music and phone is crisp clear and plenty loud enough even at motorway speeds

Pro M1 - Zumo550 - Bluetooth

Good morning;

I used the Zumo and Autocom Pro M1 during a European tour last year and found the audio sound from the Zumo to be terrible. After the first day I swapped the "anti interference" lead around, so that the suppressor was next to the Zumo, rather than under the seat next to the Autocom. This got rid of the interference and made things a lot better, but the volume was still really poor.

Last week when I was getting the bike ready for use again I resolved to investigate further. I had the positions of the Autocom headset speakers very wrong. Have now improved, but still not ideal. This made a 100% improvement.

Tried to hook the phone up again yesterday via a Motorola blutooth dongle. The operability is fine in all aspects except the mic. My wife said she could hear a very vague "something" on the first call, but nothing on the next call.

I read here suggestions that there needs to be a mic wire from the Autocom to the Zumo cradle, is this appropriate for the ProM1?

My setup is:

• 
  Zumo stereo cable to "Music Input"

• Motorola Bluetooth Dongle into Autocom Auxiliary 2

There is another Autocom port "Speech level High/Low" - what is this?

Any help appreciated

Just a thought - if i get rid of the Motorola bluetooth dongle, will the Audio input between Zumo and Autocom "music input" that is hard wired carry the phone audio? If so, then does the Auxiliary 2 carry the mic to Zumo "mic" if hard wired?

Zumo 550 - Autocom 200

Just to calrify: Rich, I have been getting very 'wooly' sound from my Garmin when hearing satnav instructions or playing music. Is this because I'm linking the two via bluetooth and not using a stereo lead? If so could you tell me the lead part number. Off to France in a week or so and would love clear instructions/music!
