Evening all,

I'm off the US in a few weeks for a tour round the West Coast. Have any of you used a European Zumo 660 in the states? I was thinking about buying the US maps as a one-off on a micro-SD card so I didn't have to go through the whole rigmarole of delete and reinstall.
Also, once the US maps are in the unit, do you know if the GTM12 traffic unit will work over there if I buy the US traffic subscription?

Cheers

Hi Pete, yes I've used mine over there with the US memory card, no problem and the Australia one too. Dont know anything about the traffic think. john:)

I've used my Navigator IV, (essentially a Zumo 660 in a posh frock) in the US on a number of occasions. I've got City Navigator North America 2009 on a micro sd card. The fact that the maps are nominally out-of-date has never presented a problem.

Information on Traffic Services in the US is here -

GTM12 compatible in US with the appropriate traffic subs. Will give it a try in a week or two.

Update - CA use

All worked very well, I got really good traffic coverage in SF, reasonable coverage in other urban areas (Bay area, Fresno, Stockton, Modesto, Sacramento), but very patchy elsewhere.

Maps were good too - gpsunderground came through nicely, with a 2012-20 map which I ran from the SD card.

Unit crashed once, after going through a tunnel in Yosemite - probably due to losing signal then being confused by the trees.

Anyway. The road trip was 1300 miles over 10 days, with plenty of stops to gasp at the scenery, hike, drink wine, admire the seals etc. Recommended.
