Zumo 550 power lead keeps blowing fuzes it is powered through a centech AP1 any ideas?

I've read elsewhere on here that if you have CanBus, then you don't need a fuse. Your experience seems to dispense this myth?
No canbus it's an 1100
Got a new power lead will fit this w/e might have a short or a frayed cable cleaned all the contacts on the mount and the sat nav both were working fine until it started blowing fuzes
