I have my 100GS in bits at the moment and as I am waiting for parts to arrive I thought I'd better sort out some of the rusty bits.

I cleaned the battery carrier back to bare metal and gave it loads of coats of red oxide & black gloss last year, however, after using the bike all winter it was covered in rust again.

This time I'll do it right - so out came the grit blaster from the back of the garage.

Its the only way to remove the rust from all the corners & crevices (I use a cup brush on an angle grinder for flat surfaces).

My 3HP, 100 litre, 11 cu ft/min air compressor isn't man enough for the job though, it takes ages to get up to 150 psi and then I get a couple of minutes use before having to wait again.

For those in the know, I use 'J-Blast Superfine' grit (I order half a ton at a time).

Does anyone else use these things ?

Errrrm . . Actually that's supposed to be gravel.

It got a dose of 'PDQ' a couple of weeks back.

I typically spray 50 gallons of weedkiller at a time - the penalty of having a 2 acre garden and too many hobbies :blast .
